Job Timer 4 Network Edition

Mapping a Network Drive

In Windows 10 they have made it impossible for an 3rd party application to read network drives. There is a fix for this. Follow the instructions below and this will fix you up. Not only in Job Timer but all of your other programs that will require a network server

Fist of all we need to shut down UAC. This is a security feature that Microsoft has had in place for many versions of Windows starting with Windows Vista.

You can run Job Timer without turning this off but you will not be able to share files over the local network. Some are not willing to shut this off but if you want you can shut this feature off. To do this follow these steps.

Search for UAC and select the "Change User Account Control Settings.

Select the slider and move it all the way down. Windows will say that it is not recommended.

Once you have installed Job Time and you are setting up the Network you may not see the Network drives. If this is the case please follow the instructions below

1 - run regedit
2. - locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Policies/System
3 - create a new DWORD entry with the name EnableLinkedConnections and value 1.
4 - restart your computer
5 - now you can see and use network drives with these installers or applications.

Most will not need to perform these fixes. Some computer set ups are different and I can't simulate every situation but I have fixes to make sure that Job Time will work on your system. I have installed Job Timer on 6 computers that have Windows 10 and two of them had issues one was a desktop and the other was a laptop. I have performed these fixes and all 6 are now running on the network with no problems.

Any questions please email me here.
